Chocolate and Zucchini was also published in the USA by Broadway books. This was their cover – one can tell immediately that it was designed for the US market. The colours, photos and style are very different from way cookbooks are designed in the UK. |

This was our intial design - obviously giving prominence to the two ingredients mentioned in the title. The Parisian photo to the left would stretch around the spine and on to the back cover. Unfortunately, in spite of the remarkably balanced slice of courgette, this version was deemed too cold. |

So, a more accessible version was included with pictures of sweet gooey things and sophisticated Parisian flowers. If you were in a Waterstone's in the summer of 2007 chances are you will have seen this on display. Or, possibly, at the tills. |

But we still held the previous cover close to our hearts. We were pleased then, to see that the French edition on the left had gone for a similar style. |
